I got this email at work today:Through audit it came to our attention that your tax file residence and your actual residence did not match. Your residence is listed as Washington, but your tax files showed you as a resident of California. This is due to an technical problem we are experiencing in the system to get employee's tax file to update properly.
I have gone in and manually updated your file to reflect your residence and work location as Washington. I have removed any wages posted to CA since you moved to WA. I have verified this morning that a CA tax refund of [ka-ching!] was deposited into your account. This is the CA withholding that had been withheld in error. You should be fine from this point out. Holy sweet! This was a lot of money. Washington state doesn't have income tax, so I don't owe anyone else, and since this is a portion of my income that has already had federal taxes withheld, the amount they gave me is the amount I get. Someone's getting Sizzler tonight!
What makes a good day better? Mark has done his profile of me for his friends, family, important people series. I'm not trying to toot my own horn; I'm just blowing my notification bugle into the ears of people who don't visit my friend's blog. So go check me out.
