So the fun is over and it’s back to work for me. I had a doozy of a morning today that really will give you a picture of how frustrating it is to work here sometimes. So I needed to get 2 names from somebody. But nobody uses the phone around here. So I walk down to the hospital where this person’s office was a week ago. It had moved. A woman told me that the office just moved to the 4th floor of the Post Office Building. I walk to the Post Office Building and go to the 4th floor. The 4th floor tells me to go to the 6th floor. The 6th floor tells me to go to the 8th floor. The 8th floor tells me to go to the 8th floor of a completely different building. I walk over to that building and go to the 8th floor. They tell me to go to the 5th floor of the Post Office Building (again). Finally I get to the 5th floor of the Post Office Building and I see the secretary who has the names for me. But what I really need is how to get in touch with these people, but the secretary does not have their phone numbers. Of course, that’s no problem since both people live in her village, so she can give me their phone numbers tomorrow morning. 6 places, 3 buildings, and close to two hours later, and I will get the information I need tomorrow morning. Gotta love this country. :o)
But HASH was really awesome. I brought Daniella with me and we had a GREAT time. Except that she made me run. It was actually a super easy trail and they had a party afterwards, so it was just my kind of fun…less running, more socializing. :o)

| This is the weblog of Lauren Babich. As an employee at Boston University's School of Public Health, I work on several projects in Lesotho aimed at building the country's capacity to mount an effective response to HIV/AIDS. Here you can read the account of my adventures in Lesotho, which started as a student in January of 2004. Hope you enjoy! |
